Ashikaga Bank to Join NTT DATA Regional Bank Integrated Services Center

NTT DATA Corporation (NTT DATA; President and CEO: Toru Yamashita; headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo) is pleased to announce that The Ashikaga Bank, Ltd. (President: Norito Ikeda; headquarters: Utsunomiya-shi, Tochigi) has decided to participate in the Regional Bank Integrated Services Center established and operated by NTT DATA.

Ashikaga Bank decided to participate in the Regional Bank Integrated Services Center after favorably assessing the potential for improvement of services to its customers through the high expandability and flexibility of the system, which are the Center's distinctive characteristics. The bank also considered that the system would further its aim of ensuring secure operation via two centers (east Japan and west Japan) and enhancing management efficiency through the reduction of system costs resulting from integration.

The addition of Ashikaga Bank brings to 13 the number of banks participating in the Center. Including the regional banks that are planning to participate, the number of banks using or committed to use of BeSTA®* has increased to a total of 22 banks.

The Center plans to add advanced system functions incorporating the know-how of the participating banks and to expand the scope of the integration system. It also aims to plan and provide new integration functions contributing to the realization of participating banks' management strategies and to further enhance its added value, thereby establishing its status as the de facto standard for regional banking systems.

In addition, stable operation is being steadily implemented through the trial introduction of general IT control in fiscal 2007 in preparation for the enactment of Japan's own version of the SOX Act on internal control, and the acquisition of ISO 20000 certification (IT service management standard) in March 2008.
