A Quality IT Platform Made Readily Available Green Data Center(R) Shared IT Platform Service Launched Today

NTT DATA Corporation (Head office: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Toru Yamashita) today began provision of the Green Data Center^{® (see Note 1)} Shared IT Platform Service, offering customers a high-quality IT environment, including operation, administration and maintenance, at low cost. The service is provided from a data center that incorporates the latest in green technologies.

By sharing IT resources across multiple systems, the service makes a stable IT environment available at low cost, an advantage over developing infrastructure separately for each system. The shared resources include not only building facilities, networks, computers and other hardware, but also software (OS and middleware) as well as operation and maintenance of the IT platform. Customers can make use of a stably operating IT environment without the worries of in-house provision and administration.
The IT platform offered in this service is based on the standard solutions Prossione^{® (see Note 2)} and PRORIZE^{TM (see Note 3)}, which NTT DATA has preconfigured and verified for system platform use.

Available Services

Customers have a choice of the following services to meet their individual IT needs.

1. Managed hosting with shared hardware (standard model, open source model, multivendor model)
   Features
   • Service is provided in a virtualized environment, using hardware shared by multiple customers.
   • Resources can be made available as needed, on short notice.
   • This service is ideal for cost-conscious customers who prefer not to have their own resources and operations personnel.
   • Savings of up to 30 percent can be realized compared to our existing Internet Data Center (iDC) service.
2. Managed hosting with dedicated hardware (standard model, open source model, multivendor model)
   Features
   • Dedicated hardware and software are provided for each customer in a shared rack.
   • An ITIL ^{(see Note 4)}-based operations management service is available at low cost to customers adopting the platform specified by NTT DATA.
   • This service should please those cost-conscious customers who have their own equipment and require a certain amount of customization according to their business requirements.
   • Savings of up to 10 percent can be realized compared to our existing iDC service.
3. Individually customized service
   Features
   • Customers make use of our Green Data Center environment.
   • One or more racks are provided in a highly reliable and highly secure environment.
   • This service is aimed at customers who put a premium on quality of facilities and operations.
   • The cost is comparable to that of our existing iDC service.

Future Developments

NTT DATA is committed to taking advantage of the latest technologies such as solar energy systems, high-voltage DC power supply systems, and virtualization, as part of our on-going efforts to build green data centers. (See the Annex for details.)
Those efforts will include our strong promotion of the Shared IT Platform Service, for which we hope to attract at least 200 customers in the public administration, financial, and industrial sectors over the coming three years.
