NTT DATA Corporation will soon release STC Manager, a security trade control support solution for corporate customers engaged in international trade. STC Manager is a solution for standardizing and streamlining company-wide screening tasks and reinforcing the compliance foundations to ensure that a company is compliant with Foreign Exchange Laws and relatives so as to prevent the risk of violations when exporting goods and technologies (software) abroad.
The installation assessment service will start on October 1, 2009 and the packaged product is scheduled for release on March 1, 2010.
Background to the Development of STC Manager
The establishment and enforcement of a compliance program (*1) for self-export-control based on the Foreign Exchange Law is considered to be a prerequisite for a company wishing to maintain stability in its business activities on the global market. The revised Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Control Law, which will come into effect in November 2009, will impose stricter regulations and penalties on violations. These result from recent spate of illegal export incidents involving goods and technologies which have raised concerns over security. Consequently, firms engaged in international trade are required to impose stricter self-regulatory controls.
Based on its 30-year record and expertise in building systems for the trade-related / logistics-related field, NTT DATA has incorporated the needs of its users across industries to develop an IT solution for streamlining security trade control tasks and achieving compliance: the STC Manager.

STC Manager
STC Manager is equipped with the classification, client verification and transaction screening functions required of firms engaged in international trade to implement security control relating to list control and catch-all control. The product will allow all departments, including design, procurement, sales and export control departments, to perform their tasks efficiently and to keep track of each result.
Furthermore, advanced uniform monitoring levels can be maintained for all business activities including design, development, contract signing, order receiving, lading and shipping procedures by linking the results accumulated in STC Manager with the company's main system.
Main Functions
STC Manager comprises the following four functions.
- Classification Function
- Client Verification Function
- Transaction Screening Function
- Approval Workflow Function
Each of these functions is provided in a module format that can be flexibly adapted to various security trade control processes applicable to the product characteristics and business processes of our customers. Please refer to the attached "Detailed Functions of STC Manager" for further information on each of these functions.

STC Manager Product Format
This packaged product has been designed so that it can be used as a stand-alone system. Furthermore, since its five core functions come in the form of modules, it can also be used in conjunction with the main system to enhance its introduction benefits.
With a view to revolutionizing our customers' security trade control operations, NTT DATA will provide an assessment service for proposing a suitable framework based on analysis of existing business processes and control items, and subsequently formulating installation formats and operation rules.

Future Developments
Functions to accommodate the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR) will be incorporated into STC Manager in fiscal 2010 to enhance global regulation of trade control tasks. Moreover, NTT DATA aims to introduce the system to over 50 companies and achieve sales of approximately 2.5 billion yen in the next three years.
