NTT DATA uses IBM, Oracle Japan Products in SOA Solutions Development- New Model for PRORIZE® Fast, High Quality, System Platform Building Solutions -

Oct. 14, 2009

NTT DATA Corporation

NTT DATA Corporation has developed the SOA solution, PRORIZE SOA model, as a new model for the PRORIZE® (see Note 1) NTT DATA system platform building solution, using SOA (see Note 2) products from both IBM Japan, Ltd. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Takayuki Hashimoto; hereinafter "IBM Japan") and Oracle Corporation Japan (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Takao Endo; hereinafter "Oracle Japan").
PRORIZE, geared to open systems, provides preconfigured and pretested combinations of system hardware, software and middleware, etc. as highly reliable system platforms, eliminating the need to perform such configuration and verification each time a system is built as was formerly the case. The PRORIZE SOA Model will make it possible to provide high quality SOA platforms in a short time.

Background

The business environment affecting companies changes and grows more diverse every day. In the last few years, there has been a diffusion of ideas related to SOA as a means of adapting flexibly to business changes, technologies and products to implement SOA have matured and there has been a steady increase in applicable systems. Because this has also brought about the linking and combining of multiple services in systems architecture applying SOA, there has been a need to resolve issues of "quality assurance" and "short-time building" in creating system platforms (hereinafter "SOA platforms") as well.

Overview

To date, NTT DATA has developed and deployed PRORIZE system platform solutions for rapidly building web systems with advanced quality over a short time. However, it has now developed the PRORIZE SOA Model as a suitable platform building solution for systems applying SOA. The PRORIZE SOA Model uses IBM Japan and Oracle Japan SOA products which have an extensive record in SOA platforms.

  • IBM Japan: IBM WebSphere product group
  • Oracle Japan: Oracle Fusion Middleware

Availability and performance, etc. are tested when producing solutions and these products have demonstrated the ability to provide robust, flexible SOA platforms.
NTT DATA and the individual vendors have built a solid alliance, enabling speedy provision of high-quality SOA platforms along with full support, so that customers can continue using the products with assurance after the start of operation.
In addition to the SOA platforms, NTT DATA has also a manual of methods for developing systems applying SOA, the SOA guidelines, which can be used to encourage the development of more SOA systems.

These solution packages have been endorsed by IBM Japan and Oracle Japan.

IBM Japan Endorsement

IBM Japan welcomes the use of the IBM WebSphere SOA product group in the PRORIZE SOA Model. We expect that this solution offers a wider choice of SOA solutions for customers. Based on co-verification with NTT DATA, in addition to providing the optimum WebSphere product for SOA platform building in the PRORIZE SOA Model, IBM Japan will provide specialized technological support tailored to the PRORIZE SOA Model and training programs for SOA engineers.

David Bate, WebSphere Business Unit Executive

Oracle Japan Endorsement

Oracle Japan hails the commencement of solutions using Oracle Fusion Middleware by the PRORIZE SOA Model.
By using Oracle Fusion Middleware, SOA platforms capable of providing high performance and reliability backed by an extensive record in mission critical domains, in a combination of collaborative solutions developed by the two companies since August last year and NTT DATA's technologies and operational know-how, we are assured of providing highly reliable, high quality platform development.
Oracle Japan will continue to offer open, high-quality system platforms through NTT DATA's PRORIZE development.

Takao Endo, President & CEO, Oracle Corporation Japan

Future Developments

NTT DATA has rolled out three standardized preconfigured pretested system platforms to match requirements for applied systems: PRORIZE, Prossione® and PORTOMICS®. It is aiming for sales of 10 billion yen over the next 2 years from system development using PRORIZE and the other two solutions.
The company will continue to add to the PRORIZE SOA Model lineup with models that can meet a greater diversity in SOA requirements.

Notes
*1 The diverse knowledge involved in building system platforms, originally acquired individually in each of the system development projects of customers, has been incorporated by NTT DATA in PRORIZE in the form of standard architectures and standard selections of vendor products. PRORIZE multivendor solutions consist of preconfigured and pretested combinations of products, chosen based on the technologies adopted. Taking advantage of a strong network of vendor alliances to resolve interworking issues between vendor products, high-quality system platforms are developed and total support is provided throughout the system life cycle, from development to operation and maintenance.
*2 SOA is the concept of specifying "services" which are cohesive task units and arranging the entire system structure into layers so that those services can be utilized by a range of tasks.
* PRORIZE®, Prossione®, and PORTOMICS® are registered trademarks of NTT DATA Corporation.
* Other product names, company names and organization names mentioned above are registered trademarks or trademarks of the respective companies.
