NTT DATA Corporation (President and CEO: Toru Yamashita; head office: Koto-ku, Tokyo) and Yucheng Technologies Limited (CEO: Weidong Hong; head office: Beijing, China) have agreed to establish a joint-venture company in Tianjin, China. The new company will be a consolidated subsidiary of NTT DATA, with NTT DATA having a 51% interest and Yucheng Technologies, 49%.
The joint venture represents NTT DATA's first step toward the commencement of full-fledged operations in the financial sector of China, which has shown remarkable economic growth in recent years.
Yucheng Technologies, listed on NASDAQ (code: YTEC), is one of the top providers of IT solutions to financial institutions in China. It provides a comprehensive suite of IT solutions and services to customers ranging widely from major banks to second- and third-tier financial institutions. The company is particularly strong in the area of Internet banking.
NTT DATA has long provided shared-use services to Japanese financial institutions, including ANSER® centers and the Regional Bank Integrated Services Center. It has accumulated know-how for providing total solutions, from systems design and development to center operation. The joint-venture company will provide cloud services to financial institutions in China based on Yucheng Technologies' shared-use Internet banking operations, to be transferred to the company upon its establishment. Capitalizing on the ever-increasing demand in China for IT outsourcing, the new firm will take the lead in spreading the use of cloud services in the Chinese banking industry, taking full advantage of Yucheng Technologies' brand power and established customer base as well as NTT DATA's long-held knowhow in shared-use services--an area in which it boasts particular strength--and the results of NTT DATA's efforts in recent years in the practical application of advanced technologies.
