Recec ASP Service Provided for Dentists

NTT DATA CORPORATION is pleased to announce the start of Recec^® ASP ^{(see Note)} service providing dentists with online functionality for preparing electronic medical insurance reimbursement claims.
Recec ASP Service was developed by NTT DATA with the cooperation of the Japan Dental Association (JDA) at both the planning and development stages. It supports electronic medical insurance reimbursement claim preparation by JDA members. NTT DATA began sales promotion on January 22 including acceptance of applications for Recec use from JDA members, and has now started providing the service to those who signed up for it.

Overview

Recec ASP Service for Japan Dental Association (Recec) provides members of the Japan Dental Association with the functionality of medical insurance reimbursement claim preparation software as an ASP service, using on-demand VPN (virtual private network) connections for secure service provision over the Internet.
Ordinarily when medical institutions prepare digital insurance reimbursement claims, requesting the examination and payment organization for reimbursement for provided medical services, they must do so using special software installed on dedicated computer terminals. In place of this approach, users of Recec access the reimbursement claim preparation functions on the network as necessary.
Recec offers the basic functions of reimbursement claim preparation software, including patient registration, listing of performed medical services, accounting for payments received from patients, and reimbursement claim preparation. It can also provide printouts of receipts, written explanations to patients (5 kinds), drug information, prescriptions, and other documents.
The service can be customized so that its use best fits the situation of individual dental clinics, in such areas as frequently used medical practices, pharmaceuticals, specific equipment, and comments.

Features

♦ Convenient to introduce and use

Users can subscribe to the service on a monthly basis, signing up or canceling at any time, making it easier to introduce than ordinary claim preparation systems.
Adding to the ease of introduction, Recec does away with the maintenance needs of conventional software, which the user must keep up to date with the latest fee tables and program version. All such maintenance is performed in the Recec data center, involving no extra cost or work for the clinic.

♦ Service provision with a high level of security assured

Data entered in Recec service is managed under rigorous security at the data center. The risk of data damage or loss is avoided even in the event of a PC breakdown at the clinic.
Moreover, communication over the Internet for Recec input and output is protected by means of "@OnDemand" technology, the online connection service provided by NTT DATA for medical insurance reimbursement claims, as well as by security measures compliant with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, assuring stable and secure network use.

Pricing

Initial registration fee: 50,000 yen
Introduction support service: from 29,800 yen
Monthly charge: 19,800 yen (includes usage charge for up to3 IDs)

Note that some of the services offered are eligible for subsidies made available under a fiscal 2009 government program for assisting medical institutions, etc. with facility and equipment expenses aimed at promoting use of digital reimbursement claims.

Future Developments

NTT DATA is actively pursuing business opportunities in the health care field, while assessing government policy and customer trends in line with future health care system reforms. Achieving wide use of Recec among dental practitioners should contribute to more efficient online insurance reimbursement claim processing in dental clinics. At the same time, by continuing to provide various ASP services throughout the health care services field, NTT DATA hopes to promote greater utilization of IT in this field.
