Candescent accelerates banking divestiture
Candescent provides Intelligent Banking to banks and credit unions, supporting more than 30 million registered users. To establish themselves as a standalone company, they needed to separate banking operations from their parent environment without disrupting service.
Working with Google Cloud and NTT DATA, Candescent completed the carve-out in nine months, reduced cloud costs by 15% to 20% and used AI-driven discovery to improve asset visibility.

Separate banking operations without downtime
Candescent provides digital banking technology to more than 1,300 banks and credit unions, supporting more than 30 million registered users. To become a standalone entity, Candescent needed to separate multiple lines of business from its parent company’s complex technology environment, without interrupting services for any of their users. Maintaining uptime was critical for customer trust, and it was essential to preserve the regulatory and security controls required to operate its banking services during the separation.
The organization wanted clear visibility of its cloud spend while maintaining the pace of feature delivery during the transition.
“
The value of collaborating with Google Cloud and a partner like NTT DATA is that they can bring a tremendous amount of knowledge immediately.
”A coordinated cloud and AI approach
Candescent partnered with Google Cloud for its data and AI capabilities, and NTT DATA for its migration and regulatory expertise. The teams used Gemini and Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform from Google Cloud to shift from manual maintenance to high-value innovation.
During the discovery phase, AI accelerators revealed three times more assets than manual methods. NTT DATA’s migration expertise supported a structured approach that enabled the team to run multiple workstreams in parallel, keeping security and compliance central from the first day of the pilot to live production.
Faster transition, lower cloud costs
The collaboration delivered the financial service carve-out in record time: The teams completed the migration in nine months, nearly twice as fast as the 16 to 24 months typical of this kind of program.
Since the move, Candescent has reduced cloud costs by 15% to 20% through proactive governance and improved visibility of workloads. On the technical side, AI-driven discovery increased asset visibility by 300%, helping reduce migration risk by identifying assets and dependencies manual methods might have missed
Most importantly, the transition was seamless for the 30 million users, enabling Candescent to move beyond digital parity and focus on Intelligent Banking, using data and AI to provide personalized experiences for every customer.
