NTT DATA is looking ahead to sustainable growth by demonstrating synergies and is setting up the development methodology NTT DATA CoRe Methodology(Abbr. NDCM)common to all NTT DATA Group companies around the world.
NTT DATA CoRe Methodology(NDCM)is a process that describes system development procedures and project management methods. With this, all worldwide group companies of NTT DATA , can carry out the projects with the same concepts and terminologies and without any inconsistencies.
By bringing this common language in to practice, we will accelerate global synergy by increasing the utilization of resources and knowledge. We will further strengthen the development capabilities on a global scale and provide high-level & consistent service quality, irrespective of the region.
So far, NTT DATA has been doing business in accordance with the specialties of each region. However, recently there is a increase in the number of customers who want to expand globally. Hence, system development at multiple locations around the world has also increased.
To efficiently proceed with the projects in which multiple locations collaborate around the world, it is important to develop the common understanding of terminologies & procedures. However, each group company had its own system development and project management methodologies. Due to which, they had different development process including terminologies. So, to work together seamlessly, from Apr 2014, members gathered together from 4 companies - NTT DATA, NTT DATA,Inc. (North American Operating Company), NTT DATA Global Delivery Services Limited (Delivery center in India) and everis (Spanish Operating Company ) and unified the structure, concept & terminology of development methodologies of each company. Since then, we have been working on integration as a globally common development methodology in NTT DATA.
We completed this integration in FY 2017 and we have started expanding this to NTT DATA Group all over the world.
At NTT DATA, by integrating development methodologies, we are aiming to further enhance the synergies across the globe and to provide System Development and IT services - such as Operations / Maintenance / Consulting, of consistent quality to the customers of any region. We are mainly aiming at the following.
By aligning system development/operations or project management procedures, system development will become possible at the global level and opportunities for collaboration between operating companies will increase. For example, previously China was mainly used as the offshore center of Japan. However, through the integration, it is possible to utilize human resources from global development centers, such as offshore development with Southeast Asia and India.
System development knowledge/best practices (great initiatives) of one region can be utilized at the other region. For example, quality control concept of Japan or best practices for large-scale agile development of Germany can be utilized at other regions also.
By utilizing development methodologies, development capabilities of each center will be improved and consistent quality of services will be provided to multinational companies regardless of region. For example, upon Japanese companies expansion to Southeast Asia and Latin America, similar quality of services will be offered to the development centers over there.
NTT DATA is integrating development methodologies for the areas where each group company has an advantage, including development methodologies of large-scale system integration in which it has many achievements in Japan. For that reason, development methodologies are comprehensive including development methodologies, corresponding to various types of IT services/development styles or, project management methods, corresponding to requirements level. Main features are as follows.
It supports various types of IT services such as System Integration, Application Development, Package Introduction, Application Management Outsourcing (AMO) or development styles such as Waterfall, Agile.
It can carry out appropriate project management according to medium-to-large scale projects, small scale projects, requirements of multinational projects and their level.
A certain level of tailoring for each region is allowed, so the project can apply it as per the specific needs of each region. We have achieved optimal establishment on the site simultaneously with integration of concepts and ideas.
In addition to international standards such as - ISO9001, ISO/IEC 12207, ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148, de facto standards such as - PMBOK, ITIL, CMMI are being followed. So, we can share our work with customers without any conflict.
1.PMBOK (Project Management Body Of Knowledge) refers to the body of knowledge related to project management established by the US PMI (Project Management Institute).
2.ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) refers to the operation management standards for information systems created by the UK Government OGC (Office of Government).
3.CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) refers to the process improvement maturity model, for the development and operation of products & services, developed by SEI (Software Engineering Institute) of Carnegie Mellon University in the United States.
