Your day at NTT DATA

The Data Center Technician provides a working level of data center knowledge and is responsible for the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of the data center electrical, mechanical, and fire life safety systems.

The Data Center Technician maintains and follows the processes that maximize customer uptime in the most cost-effective way. Ensures that data center problems are identified and repaired quickly, that contractors deliver quality services, and that internal customer demands are met.

What you'll be doing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops creative approaches to keep operational costs to a minimum, improve efficiency, and implement new strategies.  Systems of responsibility include:

  • Mechanical responsibilities will include chilled water systems and components, HVAC systems such as roof top units, CRAC/CRAH units, and humidification systems.

  • Electrical responsibilities will include electrical/critical power distribution from the Utility/Generator main switchgear through the UPS systems out to the customer load.

  • Fire Life Safety responsibilities will include wet sprinkler systems and pre-action sprinkler systems as well as their associated detection devices.

  • Tests performance of electromechanical assemblies and electronic voltmeters.

  • Reads blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical order to determine methods and sequences of processes.

  • Inspects parts for surface defects.

  • Installs electrical or electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, using hand tools.

  • Aligns, fits or assembles component parts, using hand or power tools.

  • Operates, monitors, maintains, and responds to abnormal conditions in facilities systems. Areas include: Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Life Safety, and Building Monitoring and Control

  • Analyzes systems to ensure best practices for both internal and external customers

  • Provides feedback to DCO Engineering on the effectiveness of existing standards and processes

  • Works with contractors and consultants to review quality assurance for all system expansions, corrections, and upgrades

  • Works with the CF Ops Lead Technician to track and complete an aggressive preventive and predictive maintenance program

  • Ensures data center operates at maximum operational efficiency, including analyzing existing operating conditions, recommending new technologies and improving overall efficiency, and cost reduction. 

  • Manages systems to avoid unplanned customer-impacting events

  • Works with CF Ops Lead Technician to determine maintenance requirements for mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Regular, predictable attendance is essential to satisfactory performance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Possess an understanding of the mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems used in a data center environment including, but not limited to the following: electrical distribution and layout, Transformers, PLC’s, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, STS’, ATS’ PDU’s, Chilled Water Systems, CRAC/CRAH’s, Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems

  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and compliance issues as well as building codes in regard to fire life safety

  • Current knowledge in industrial safety best practices (i.e. lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA and state regulations)

  • Familiarity with data trending / tracking and analysis and the ability to utilize a PC based integrated critical monitoring systems

  • Ability to process Hands and Eye requests as required i.e., Tape Rotation, Rack and Stack of equipment, inventory hardware, power cycle devices, patch cable install/removal

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems including:

    • Chilled Water Systems

    • Large Centrifugal Chillers

    • Cooling Towers

    • Heat Exchangers

    • Water Treatment Systems

    • VFD’s and Pumps

    • HVAC equipment

    • CRAC/CRAH’s

    • Humidification Systems

    • Water heaters

    • Water/Air filters

    • BMS and PLC Controls

    • Emergency Standby Diesel Generator Systems

    • Fuel/Oil systems,

    • 480/277 and 208/120 electrical generation and distribution

    • Static UPS Systems

    • Double Interlock Pre-Action Systems

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff and effectively work in team environment

  • Ability to coordinate, supervise, and communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on these systems.

  • Ability to learn quickly and address issues as they arise during normal working hours or after hours.

  • Ability to operate in and promote a rigorous process-driven team environment

  • Ability to effectively multi-task multiple projects

  • Ability to operate Hand and Machine Tools (hammer, drill, saw, etc.)

L1 EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma required.

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent education and/or work experience and a minimum of 2 years in a mechanical/electrical position within critical facilities (preferably a data center, hospital, semi-conductor, or power plant) required.

  • CPR/First Aid and NFPA70E Certified during employment.

  • Possession of an OSHA approved forklift certification or the ability to obtain one after hire required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Primarily walking, standing, and bending with some sitting.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with verbal, visual and listening skills

  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required equipment as well as to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

  • Able to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to climb ladders and work on raised platform.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Data Center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises.

  • Potential extensive daily usage of workstation or computer.

  • Must work on-site; no telecommuting permitted.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be willing to be part of the after-hours notification and escalation protocol.

  • Must wear leather close-toed shoes with a solid rubber sole.

  • Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.

This position requires work to be done onsite at a data center facility and may require use of a personal mobile device. A monthly stipend will be provided to cover expenses incurred for using a personal device, if applicable.
 
 
NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Hourly base salary for this position is $27.80 - $41.60 and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance to local state and federal ‘Wage and Hour’ requirements.
 
 
All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.

The Networking Service Delivery Field Support Engineer (L1) is responsible for providing a professional first-line onsite technical support and field engineering service to clients by proactively identifying and resolving technical incidents and problems. Through pre-emptive service incident and resolution activities, this role restores service to clients by managing incidents and seeing them through to an effective resolution. The primary objective of this role is to ensure all requests, process events and resolution incidents result in zero missed Service Level Agreement (SLA) conditions. The role is responsible for managing standard and low complexity incidents, conducting routine, repetitive tasks whilst using readily available information and following standard practices and procedures.

What you'll be doing

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the assigned infrastructure at the client site is configured, installed, tested and operational
  • Ensure that any software that is part of the solution is installed and configured according to client requirements
  • Proactively identify problems and errors as they occur and log such incidents in a timely manner with the required level of detail
  • Liaise with all stakeholders including client IT environments, carriers and NTT colleagues to expediate diagnosis of errors and problems and to identify a resolution
  • Investigate first line support calls assigned and identify the root cause of incidents and problems following knowledge articles
  • Respond to and diagnose all alerts, escalate to L2 Field Engineer when unable to resolve within the stipulated time
  • Ensure incidents are updated with progress and resolution details in a timely manner using the required platform
  • Ensure the efficient and comprehensive resolution of incidents and requests
  • Apply tools, techniques and processes to track, log, report on and correct configuration items, components and changes
  • Investigate problems in systems, processes and services and assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures
  • Provide first line remote and onsite technical support to clients
  • Provide first line field engineering services to clients
  • Report and escalate issues to 3rd party vendors if necessary
  • Follow the required handover procedures for shift changes to ensure service continuity

The Networking Managed Services Engineer (L3) is a seasoned engineering role, responsible for providing a managed service to clients by proactively identifying and resolving technical incidents and problems.

Through pre-emptive service incident and resolution activities, as well as product reviews, operational improvements, operational practices, and quality assurance this role maintains a high level of service to clients.

The primary objective of this role is to ensure zero missed service level agreement (SLA) conditions and is responsible for managing tickets of high complexity, conducts advanced and complicated tasks, and provides resolution to a diverse range of complex problems.

This position uses considerable judgment and independent analysis within defined policies and practices and applies analytical thinking and deep technical expertise in achieving client outcomes, while coaching and mentoring junior team members across functions.

The Networking Managed Services Engineer (L3) may also contribute to / support on project work as and when required.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that assigned infrastructure at the client site is configured, installed, tested, and operational
  • Performs necessary checks, apply monitoring tools and respond to alerts.
  • Identifies problems and errors prior to or when it occurs and log all such incidents in a timely manner with the required level of detail.
  • Assists in analyzing, assigning, and escalating support calls.
  • Investigates third line support calls assigned and identify the root cause of incidents and problems
  • Reports and escalates issues to 3rd party vendors if necessary.
  • Provides onsite technical support to clients and provide field engineering services to clients.
  • Conducts a monthly random review of incidents and service requests, analyze and recommend improvement in quality.
  • Provides continuous feedback to clients and affected parties and update all systems and/or portals as prescribed by the company.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for work optimization including opportunities for automation of work.
  • May manage and implement projects within technology domain, delivering effectively and promptly per client agreed upon requirements and timelines.
  • May work on implementing and delivering Disaster Recovery functions and tests.
  • Performs any other related task as required.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in IT/Computing (or demonstrated equivalent work experience).
  • CCNP or equivalent certification.
  • Certifications relevant to the services provided (certifications carry additional weightage on a candidate’s qualification for the role).

Your day at NTT DATA

Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer Level 1 will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, security, and compliance of the NTT Data Center physical infrastructure, equipment, and personnel. The Security Officer Level 1 (L1) will work closely with the Data Center Operations Team (DCOPS) to ensure that security measures are in place and functioning properly. The Security Officer L1, an entry level position and is responsible for the administrative and operational duties associated with a site security team.

This position is client-facing, clear and concise communication is required. Security Officer L1 is responsible for protection of personnel and company property, manages access control, monitors CCTV systems, responding to incidents, and completing written reports. Team members are expected to collaborate with other departments to assist with matters pertaining to the efficient operation of the data center, including Shipping & Receiving. The position enforces and adheres to security procedures based on policies determined by the Security Management team. Your vigilance and attention to detail will contribute to maintaining a secure environment for the NTT Data Center customer and the infrastructure.

What you'll be doing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures that all employees, clients, vendors, and visitors on company property have proper company-issued identification.

  • Patrols assigned post on foot to maintain visibility and observes possible unusual activity.

  • Ensures that the client, its associates, and NTT Data Center personnel are provided with a safe and professional work environment.

  • Investigates, addresses if possible, and report security, maintenance, and safety conditions.

  • Ensures daily administrative documentation is concise and complete at all times.

  • Maintains assigned equipment is functional and in presentable condition.

  • Assist personnel with requests

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • Additional education or training in security-related fields is a plus.

  • Six Months experience in security roles, preferably in a data center or similar environment.

  • Experience in the administration and operation of: access control systems, CCTV systems with digital recording, and photo ID systems preferred.

  • Demonstrated integrity, honesty, and reliability in fulfilling security responsibilities.

  • Possession of relevant certifications such as Certified Security Guard (CSG) or Certified Protection Officer (CPO).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Approximately equal amount of time sitting and walking.

  • Requires ability to bend, reach and stand for extended periods.

Required Experience

The Senior Principal Cloud Client Partner is a quota-bearing sales persona and has the primary responsibility to work with services teams to identify, develop, and close managed service and outsourcing deals. 

This is a services expert role, recognized as the client’s trusted cloud managed services advisor and applies consulting led sales skills to engage and close opportunities with decision-makers. 

This role works directly with clients at a variety of levels, as well as other internal sales and delivery expert teams such as Client Managers and pre-sales services-type architects and post the sale; the delivery teams that will manage the client’s outsourced solution. Deals often involve alignment on business outcome led multi-product/multi-vendor Cloud solutions with services.

This role ‘champions’ the delivery teams’ understanding of the client’s solution requirements, and initiates improvement programs ensuring that the client remains committed to NTT solutions which leads to more sales opportunities.

Building and developing excellent stakeholder relationships with clients, fully understanding the client and the industry in which they operate will be a core focus of this role. The focus of this role remains on converting the client to a managed services client resulting in multi-year renewals; deals may involve a long sales cycle.  

As a Senior Principal Cloud Client Partner, this role has the opportunity to partner with some of the biggest global organizations helping them convert to new business models.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Ensures the generation of demand and selling Cloud managed services solutions -

  • Ensures the generation of demand by assisting clients to identify and qualify current needs and effectively articulate how NTT can add value through its services and solutions offering.
  • Guides on addressing the objections that a client may pose in moving to a managed services solution.
  • Guides on allocating and deciding sales time between assigned clients and new prospect opportunities; yet ensure focus remains on the top clients/prospects and balance opportunity size with likely outcomes.

Sales partnership -

  • The success of the services agenda and successful sales will rely on successful partnership with others; this will include regional leads and services teams to work on the best outcome for the client.
  • Work cross functionally with partners and/ or vendors to drive select deals through vendor-based opportunities.
  • Work cross functionally with broader organization such as the Offer Management, Commercial Architecture and Delivery teams to promote and support high-value services opportunities.
  • Advises on regional sales governance processes and Deal Clinics to profile opportunities.

Managed Services in​dustry trusted advisor -

  • Guides on building deep and long-term relationships with client leaders in a Managed Services opportunity and execute a competitive win strategy through understanding the client’s business requirements and competitive landscape.
  • Owns the maintenance of a high level of relevant service knowledge to have meaningful conversations with clients; including the industry that the client operates in.
  • Develops the knowledge base of NTT’s services solutions within a services practice by sharing best practices with internal teams as well as client teams; ensuring that internal teams are aware of typical client challenges.

Deal construct​ -

  • Owns the build and supports commercial solutions for Managed Services solutions and design deals that meet client’s needs and ensure win/win solutions for both client and NTT.
  • Guides on constructing the managed services deal including the commercial modelling, negotiate contractual terms, mitigate legal risk and obstacles, and move the proposal to close to meet assigned quota.

Drive the sales process -

  • Guides on managing a pipeline of opportunities and creating and documenting a shared strategy to meet sales target such as net new customer pursuit plans to land new logos, activities to achieve client satisfaction, minimize churn, cross-sell, upsell, revenue, and margin goals.
  • Works with cross functional sales teams and commercial architects to successfully position the service and see the opportunity through to closure.
  • Works with cross functional internal teams to ensure scope of work and proposals are tracked, managed and delivered on time.
  • Develops and owns the implementation of an opportunity plan, to provide regular check-ins with the primary point of contact and have an established process for getting buy-in from all stakeholders
  • Guides on ensuring data is accurate based on sales reporting standards to provide data-driven insights.
  • Advises on the negotiation of deals with clients and lead the internal account management team to enable conclusion of services deals.
  • Advises on the knowledge base of NTT’s solutions and services by sharing best practices, industry and technology trends with internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Leads on regional reporting cadence as it relates to regional performance and major deal reviews.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops creative approaches to keep operational costs to a minimum, improve efficiency, and implement new strategies.  Systems of responsibility include:

  • Mechanical responsibilities will include chilled water systems and components, HVAC systems such as roof top units, CRAC/CRAH units, and humidification systems.

  • Electrical responsibilities will include electrical/critical power distribution from the Utility/Generator main switchgear through the UPS systems out to the customer load.

  • Fire Life Safety responsibilities will include wet sprinkler systems and pre-action sprinkler systems as well as their associated detection devices.

  • Tests performance of electromechanical assemblies and electronic voltmeters.

  • Reads blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical order to determine methods and sequences of processes.

  • Inspects parts for surface defects.

  • Installs electrical or electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, using hand tools.

  • Aligns, fits or assembles component parts, using hand or power tools.

  • Operates, monitors, maintains, and responds to abnormal conditions in facilities systems. Areas include: Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Life Safety, and Building Monitoring and Control

  • Analyzes systems to ensure best practices for both internal and external customers

  • Provides feedback to DCO Engineering on the effectiveness of existing standards and processes

  • Works with contractors and consultants to review quality assurance for all system expansions, corrections, and upgrades

  • Works with the CF Ops Lead Technician to track and complete an aggressive preventive and predictive maintenance program

  • Ensures data center operates at maximum operational efficiency, including analyzing existing operating conditions, recommending new technologies and improving overall efficiency, and cost reduction. 

  • Manages systems to avoid unplanned customer-impacting events

  • Works with CF Ops Lead Technician to determine maintenance requirements for mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Regular, predictable attendance is essential to satisfactory performance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Possess an understanding of the mechanical, electrical, and fire life safety systems used in a data center environment including, but not limited to the following: electrical distribution and layout, Transformers, PLC’s, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, STS’, ATS’ PDU’s, Chilled Water Systems, CRAC/CRAH’s, Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems

  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and compliance issues as well as building codes in regard to fire life safety

  • Current knowledge in industrial safety best practices (i.e. lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA and state regulations)

  • Familiarity with data trending / tracking and analysis and the ability to utilize a PC based integrated critical monitoring systems

  • Ability to process Hands and Eye requests as required i.e., Tape Rotation, Rack and Stack of equipment, inventory hardware, power cycle devices, patch cable install/removal

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems including:

The Security Managed Services Engineer (L1) is an entry level engineering role, responsible for providing a managed service to clients to ensure that their Firewall infrastructure remain operational through proactively identifying, investigating, and routing the incidents to correct resolver group.

The primary objective of this role is to ensure zero missed service level agreement (SLA) conditions and focuses on first-line support for standard and low complexity incidents and service requests.

The Security Managed Services Engineer (L1) may also contribute to / support on project work as and when required.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • looking for 2+ years of experience in Network Security domain.
  • Experience with Firewall devices.
  • Firewall Replacements End of Life hardware.
  • Verification of Bill of Material, receive/Inspect/Burn-in the newly received hardware
  • Identify power requirement, cabling and space requirements for the hardware
  • Create a low-level design documentation, including host names as per Naming Convention Deployment Guide Lines (DGL), Interfaces Mapping,
  • Review Networker and iServer for the End of Life (EOL) devices to be replaced
  • Review Switches and Routers for port availability and check routing configuration, etc. (consult with GNS Engineering)
  • Develop a Cable Patch schedule for the Firewall Cluster
  • Create and Prepare NetAppls entries
  • Review Console cabling setup for the new devices
  • Create Service Now Request to Rack/Stack and cable devices
  • Verify Console Access of the newly installed devices
  • Check the OS version of the new Firewalls.
  • Build the Firewalls with the proper OS as per DGL.
  • Create the base configuration for the Firewalls
  • Create Service Now Change request couple of weeks in advance to provide application owners time to support pre & post testing
  • Attend CAB Meetings to support Changes by Local DB Party
  • Finalize pre-prod configuration of the firewalls.
  • Bring the firewalls into pre-production status
  • Cutover the new Firewall Cluster as per DGL
  • Install the Firewall Policies on the new Firewall Cluster
  • Perform failover & stability tests of the new setup
  • Wipe clean configuration from old devices and remove from datacenter
  • OS (Operating system) upgrades
  • Co-ordinate with PM on all activities related to OS upgrade and Testing
  • Co-ordinate with Application Owner to perform Pre and Post Testing
  • Create Service Now Requests to upgrade the Firewall OS from R80.40 to R81.20  or any new version as dictated by Engineering and agreed by PM using the CDT tool
  • Attend CAB Meeting to ensure changes are approved
  • Contact Application Owners to perform pre and post testing
  • Perform the cut over and upgrade the Firewall OS
  • All firewall changes must comply with DB 4-eyes process and be accepted by engineering.
  • Sign off from Network Operations and clients must be obtained before closing change, where applicable.

  • Academic Qualifications and Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in IT/Computing (or demonstrated equivalent work experience).
  • CCNA or relevant level 1 Network Security certification is good to have. Certifications carry additional weight on a candidate’s qualification for the role..

Your day at NTT DATA

The Team Lead, Managed Services Client Service Desk is an entry level subject matter expert, responsible for taking accountability for the operational management of a team of service desk employees (agents and / or administrators).

This role ensures client satisfaction by managing daily operations of the service desk, managing the service desk team, representing the team to other stakeholders, and helping to ensure that the service desk is constantly developing and improving.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing a team of junior service desk agents and / or administrators.
  • Ensures resource allocation, attendance, effective achievement of KPI’s and planning activities.
  • Contributes to the process of managing tickets or calls logged at the service desk.
  • Ensures all incidents which are logged, are accurately registered and categorized.
  • Ensures the allocation of an appropriate ticket prioritization code upon receipt of the ticket/call and during the logging process.
  • Ensures ticket diagnosis is conducted to discover the full symptoms, determine what has gone wrong and how to correct it.
  • Be expected to take ownership and resolve or further escalate escalated incidents.
  • Checks incidents are fully resolved, and users and/or clients are satisfied and agree to close the related incident.
  • Ensures relevant actions have been logged to enable tracking.
  • Monitors the performance of the team and identifies any training/ coaching intervention required.
  • Leads the discussion of the daily huddles and ensures performance-enhancement solutions are identified and implemented.
  • Supports with identifying any gaps and shortcomings in the current processes, procedures, services and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Supports with monitoring backlog and uses escalation channels to get the right team involved in resolving tickets in a timely manner.


Knowledge and Attributes:

  • Some understanding of the vast range of IT operations and company service offerings
  • Displays good levels of client engagement and service orientation.
  • Demonstrates operational team management skills and ability to effectively manage the resources that report to them.
  • Good collaboration skills and ability to interact professionally.
  • Some understanding of project management principles


Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in information technology or related field.
  • Relevant technical certifications preferred.
  • ITIL v4 specialist certification and knowledge is required.


Required Experience:

  • Demonstrated relevant work experience gained in call center managed services/services delivery environment within a medium to large information technology environment.
  • Entry level team management/leadership experience.
  • Demonstrable experience leading a team of service desk agents preferably within a global technology organization.
