Appointment of Committer (major developer) for Open Source Software Projects Apache Airflow and Apache Ambari
NTT DATA Corporation(NTT DATA) is pleased to announce that its employees, Kengo Seki, has been appointed as a committer and a member of PMC (Project Management Committee) of open source software project Apache Airflow, and Masahiro Tanaka as a committer of Apache Ambari.
NTT DATA not only promotes the use of open source software but also actively participates in its development in order to make it safer and more convenient for customers to use. These development activities have been recognized by the Open Source Software community and its employees have been appointed as committers for Apache Hadoop and Apache Spark, which provide the platform for processing large-scale data, and the database software PostgreSQL, etc.
NTT DATA will continue to actively contribute in the Apache Airflow and Apache Ambari communities and will commit itself to enhance their functionality and improve their quality.

About Apache Airflow
Apache Airflow is a workflow engine software developed as one of the open source software projects operated by Apache Software Foundation. Apache Airflow allows you to dynamically define the task dependencies using the Python programming language. This makes defining complex workflows relatively easy. About Apache Ambari
Apache Ambari is a Hadoop Cluster management software also developed as one of the open source software projects operated by Apache Software Foundation. It supports the construction and operation of Hadoop cluster which can be highly complex. NTT DATA has adopted Apache Ambari in its “Hadoop construction and operation solution” provided since 2010 and “Spark construction and operation solution” provided since 2015.
Significance of committer appointment and future initiatives
NTT DATA provides feedback to the development community based on the knowledge acquired through the use of open source software, and actively engages in resolving issues and developing new features together with developers from all over the world. With the appointments of committers, employees of NTT DATA will be given roles and authority in the development community enabling us to further contribute to improving the quality of software. This appointments will give NTT DATA an opportunity to provide advanced system integration and support services to its customers at a higher level by utilizing their ability to solve problems and develop new features in cooperation with the development community. NTT DATA will continue to work with the Apache Airflow and Apache Ambari communities in order to enhance their functionality and improve their quality.
Note: A committer is a major developer who is given authority to modify the programs during development or maintenance of open source software. PMC is the committees which manage the smooth operation of open source software development, usually selected among the committers by mutual selection.
