NTT DATA wins two Global Connectivity Awards 2026 for global and European leadership
As AI, cloud services, streaming, gaming and other data-intensive applications continue to grow, the networks carrying that traffic have never been more important. Organizations need connectivity that can move massive volumes of data quickly, securely and reliably — not only within individual markets but also across regions and around the world.
That makes the performance, reach and resilience of the global internet backbone increasingly critical.
At this year’s Global Connectivity Awards in London, NTT DATA received two major industry honors recognizing the strength of our Global IP Network:
- Best Global Connectivity Provider — Data
- European Connectivity Provider of the Year
Presented at the Capacity Europe conference, the annual Global Connectivity Awards recognize innovation and excellence in the global digital infrastructure industry, spanning areas such as network connectivity, data centers, subsea infrastructure, network transformation and operations.
Recognition of our global leadership
The Best Global Connectivity Provider — Data award recognizes our position at the forefront of global IP networking. The judging panel described NTT DATA as a “dominant global leader,” highlighting our “scale and global infrastructure in supporting major brands.”
That global scale is at the heart of our Global IP Network. Operating under a single autonomous system number, AS2914, our Tier 1 Internet Protocol (IP) backbone spans the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania, providing a high-performance environment for data, content and video transit around the world.
The network also supports advanced network security and distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) protection services, helping organizations maintain the availability and performance of the digital services their customers and users depend on.
A continued commitment to Europe
NTT DATA was also named European Connectivity Provider of the Year, recognizing our continued investment in and commitment to the European market.
Europe is an important part of our global network strategy, connecting internet-centric businesses, digital platforms and service providers within the region while providing the international reach they need to connect with customers, partners and digital ecosystems worldwide.
Together, the two awards highlight something fundamental to our approach: Global scale and regional strength go hand in hand. A truly global network needs strong infrastructure, expertise and customer relationships in every market it serves.
The people behind the network
While the technology and infrastructure behind a Tier 1 global backbone are essential, delivering exceptional connectivity ultimately depends on the people who design, operate, secure and support it every day.
“Receiving these two awards is an important recognition of the strength of our Global IP Network and, most importantly, the people behind it,” said Michael Wheeler, Executive Vice President, Global IP Network, at NTT DATA. “Our teams around the world work every day to deliver the performance, reliability and exceptional service our clients depend on.
“We are especially proud to be recognized both for our global leadership and our continued commitment to Europe, and we look forward to building on that momentum as the connectivity requirements of AI and other data-intensive applications continue to grow.”
Building the network for what comes next
The demands placed on global networks are changing rapidly. AI workloads, cloud platforms and other data-intensive applications are generating new traffic patterns and increasing expectations for capacity, performance, security and scalability.
For organizations operating in multiple markets, connectivity can no longer be viewed simply as the infrastructure moving data from one point to another. It is becoming an increasingly important foundation for digital growth and innovation.
Our Global IP Network is built to support that evolution.
These two Global Connectivity Awards are an important recognition of how far we have come. More importantly, they reinforce our commitment to what comes next: continuing to invest in the network, technology and people needed to keep businesses and digital communities connected around the world.
NTT was also inducted into the Global Connectivity Awards Hall of Fame, recognizing a select group of organizations with a record of sustained excellence and lasting contributions to the global connectivity industry.
These latest honors build on NTT DATA’s success at the Global Connectivity Awards 2025, where we were named Best Asia-Pacific Connectivity Provider.
