TOKYO – April 1, 2022NTT DATA, a global digital business and IT services leader, announced today it has been named the first Japanese company to join the CDP Supply Chain Program1 as a Premium member. CDP is an international non-governmental organization that runs the platform for environment-related disclosure. NTT DATA utilizes digital technologies to support the decarbonization efforts of clients in a wide range of industries and became a CDP Gold Accredited Solutions Provider2 on March 1, 2022. This decision to participate in the supplier program will strengthen NTT DATA's ties with CDP, and further efforts for decarbonization of global society.

Background

NTT DATA pursues green innovating utilizing digital technologies and has set targets of a 60% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 from FY 2016 levels (1.5°C Science Based target), and carbon neutrality by 2040. In January 2022, NTT DATA began providing a "green consulting service," supporting clients and society with strategy formulation, establishment of mechanisms and other services to achieve carbon neutrality. On March 1, 2022, NTT DATA was certified as a CDP Gold Accredited Solutions Provider, drawing on its technology and experience to deliver services.
On April 1, 2022, NTT DATA will join the CDP Supply Chain Program of CDP, a respected international NGO in the field of climate change, at the highest level of Premium. Reductions in greenhouse gas emissions across the entire supply chain are essential to achieve carbon neutrality, and NTT DATA's participation in this program will facilitate discussion and action in this area.

Dexter Galvin, CDP Global Director, Corporations & Supply Chains said, "NTT DATA set a 1.5 ℃ aligned Science Based Targets with a very high scope 3 reduction target and became a premium member of the CDP Supply Chain Program to more effectively manage and track their upstream scope 3 emissions. CDP is committed to supporting NTT DATA as they seek to meet their target objectives and look forward to NTT DATA becoming a leader among companies in the Asia Pacific region that are taking action to reduce their overall scope 3 emissions."

Michiyo Morisawa, Director, CDP Worldwide Japan, commented, "It is important to address critical environmental issues, including climate change, not only within a company's own operations, but also throughout their value chain. And especially to support Net Zero and Science Based Targets, it is necessary that companies accelerate their efforts to address Scope 3 emission reduction issues. I look forward to NTT DATA taking a global leadership role as a CDP's Supply Chain Premium member and working together with a wide range of suppliers to accelerate these and other emission reduction initiatives."

Future Goals

NTT DATA, as a Premium member of the CDP Supply Chain Program, by furthering emissions reductions, including mutual cooperation to cut supply chain emissions across numerous industries, will contribute to carbon neutrality for clients, supplies, and all of society.

NTT Green Innovation toward 2040

NTT Group announced its environmental vision "NTT Green Innovation toward 2040" on September 28, 2021, setting goals for an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (compared to FY2013), and carbon neutrality in the mobile and data centers businesses, by FY2030, and to achieve full carbon neutrality by 2040. NTT Group is expanding its initiatives for carbon neutrality to society at large, supporting the Japanese government's target of a 46% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (compared to FY2013 levels) by FY2030, and carbon neutrality by 2050.

NTT DATA conducts activities as a Premium member, playing a leading roll in decarbonization efforts through supply chains on a global level.
