NTT DATA to Hold Open Innovation Contest 7.0 in Search of New Partners and Businesses

NTT DATA Corporation (NTT DATA) will host its 7th Open Innovation Contest and started accepting applications through the Contest’s official website: http://oi.nttdata.com/en/contest/(External Link). Regional contests will be held at 15 locations in fourteen countries - Tokyo, Melbourne, San Francisco, Toronto, Santiago, Sao Paulo, London, Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Milan, Tel Aviv, Mumbai, Singapore and Guiyang - and the winners will be invited to the Grand Finale in Tokyo in March of 2018. The Grand Finale winner will receive a three-month in-kind contribution to support the development of the proposed new business.

NTT DATA has been hosting open innovation contests twice a year since 2014. The last global Contest 5.0 hosted regional semifinals in 10 cities of nine countries to further emphasize the global aspect of the event for the first time, and received more than 400 proposals all over the world. 10 finalists, who are the winners of each regional semifinal, then competed at the Grand Finale in Tokyo in March, 2017. The Grand Finale Winner, Barcelona-based Social Coin, is already undergoing intensive business development. In addition to the Grand Finale Winner, NTT DATA are engaging with 6 other finalists to discuss potentials for co-creating innovative businesses. Please refer to video below.
With the great success of last year’s contest, venture capitals and innovation hubs all over the world were expecting another global scale contest. In response, NTT DATA decided to expand The Contest 7.0 to 15 cities. Any startup company is welcome to submit a proposal for a collaborative business with NTT DATA in fields such as FinTech, InsurTech, HealthcareTech, Financial Inclusion, RegTech, IoT, digital marketing, Blockchain, virtual currency, API, personal data, AI, drone, digital archive, BPM, energy, or quantum computing at any of The Contest 7.0 venue.
The winner of each regional contest will be invited to the Grand Finale in Tokyo which will be held in March 2018. NTT DATA will cover travel expenses for two people of each winner of regional contest, one of whom will be the presenter. The Grand Finale winner will receive a three-month in-kind contribution to support the development of their proposed new business.
