Fair Trade is a framework which aims to help producers become independent and improve their lives by fairly and continuously trading the materials or ingredients produced in developing nations. Its goal is to solve social problems such as poverty, child labor and environmental destruction.
As a “Trusted Global Innovator” working to create new values together with the partners worldwide, we, the NTT DATA Group, agree with the philosophy of Fair Trade under which a great number of players —ranging from producers, distributors and consumers— cooperate as a team beyond borders. For this reason, we have been supporting Fair Trade since 2007 as part of our social contribution activities
As presents to shareholders participating in the meetings, we have designed, baked and provided pieces of original cake marked with the internationally certified FAIRTRADE Marks since 2014.
The internationally certified FAIRTRADE Marks are permitted to be carried only by the goods produced, traded and manufactured according to the standards set by the Fairtrade Labeling Organizations International, e.V. (Fairtrade International).

In the Biodiversity Action Award Japan 2015, organized by the Japan Committee for the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity (UNDB-J) and the results of which were announced on November 6, 2015, our initiative —“the use of Fairtrade products in the company’s in-house consumption aiming to conserve biodiversity”— won praise for being a measure to promote biodiversity, and received an award.
The purpose of the Biodiversity Action Award Japan is to commend organizations and individuals working on any of the five actions of eating, feeling, showing, conserving and selecting for making people to think about biodiversity in everyday life.
